Week 1; Day 2

"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Hebrews 11:1 (NKJV)

We all hope, but do we all have faith? Each one of us has something we want to believe in, like "Bigfoot" or "aliens". Hope, is described as "the feeling that something desired is possible; to look forward to with desire and confidence". This would give reason to believe in something that actually exists. We could hope for something tangible, like a good night's sleep."For we were saved in this hope; but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance"-Romans 8:24-25. But hope is not the same as faith. Faith: confidence or trust; loyalty. Faith is what we know when we hope, even if we can not see it. It is constant for us to develop a trust in, without doubt. Faith is not like hope, as it comes from time to time. Faith is a lifestyle. As the Bible tells us, "For we walk by faith, not by sight"-2 Corinthians 5:7. When we constantly live in faith, our whole perspective changes. We don't just hope for a good night's sleep, we have faith we will have a good night's rest.

The difference between hope and faith, are what we see vs what we can't see. So, instead of hoping for the things that are temporary and inconstant, we should take smaller steps towards things we can have faith in. I have full trust that the Lord has lead me to trust in faith, in what I can't see; like a good night's rest.
